Afrique Profonde Residency Scheme is working with a London Based Artist Flora Parrott (Tintype Gallery), as Parrott will be one of the Artists in residence 2011. The program takes Artists to the Congo to enable a platform for collaboration and exchange with the ‘Pygmy’ communities and the traditional culture of the Congo. The residency will be a focussed time to cultivate research and work during a 12-week trip in the deeply-rooted cultures of the Congo basin rainforest. The objects and recordings made will be exhibited in London in 2011 and will become part of a larger, academic body of work conducted by Marius Billy and Afrique Profonde.
